The RBAF Support Helicopter Project Hit Several Major Milestones

brun_1On 2 December 2011, the Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam (MINDEF) signed a contract with Sikorsky International Operations, Inc. for the delivery of twelve (12) S-70i™ BLACK HAWK helicopters with spare parts, ground support equipment and training package.

Soldiers were able to practice treating a patient, coordinating with a helicopter crew to request assistance and the handing off a patient to the crew for follow-on care.After more than a half a decade of duty on some of the driest land on the planet, the 2515th Naval Air Ambulance Detachment has folded its flag, leaving behind a legacy of care and joint service in Kuwait and Iraq.

Coast Guard airlifts sick crewman off container 400 miles off California Coast

cg_1The Coast Guard worked jointly with the Navy to airlift a sick crewman Monday night from the container ship Horizon Spirit transiting 460 miles west of San Diego.

To be able to fly its long-range rescue mission, the San Diego-based MH-60 Jayhawk refueled aboard the Navy ship USS Peleliu before recovering the sick man, the ship's captain, from the 800-foot container ship.

Fighting Irish: deployed crew chief fulfills dream

mil_7Flying over southwestern Afghanistan, a voice came over the radio, drawing the crew chiefs’ attention to a large truck and SUVs racing through the desert. Marines with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469, “Vengeance,” were performing aerial reconnaissance in the area, looking for any suspicious vehicles or potential insurgent activity.

Helicopter makes forced landing in southern Afghanistan

ISAF is still in the process of assessing the circumstances to determine more facts; however, initial reporting indicates that there was no enemy activity in the area.

The Marines and sailors with 3rd Med. Bn., Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, conducted the training to keep their combat readiness at a high level.
