Agricultural show to benefit charity

US Forest Service adds four heavy helicopters to support wildfire suppression

fi_1U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell today announced the agency is adding four heavy helicopters to the aviation firefighting fleet.

“The addition of these helicopters to our aviation fleet will increase our ability to respond quickly and aggressively to fight wildfires and protect lives and property,” said Tidwell. “We will continue to mobilize our firefighting assets when and where they are needed as we respond to a very challenging wildfire season.”

GPS Firm Donates Navigation Tool to Air Medical Community

logo_acctAir medical services providers have a chance to add a new tool to their safety program, and at a discount. Satellite Technology International, Inc. (STI) has donated a helicopter global positioning system (GPS) approach/departure, to be auctioned off by the Association of Critical Care Transport (ACCT).

Children's Hospital, New Orleans WAAS LPV Procedures

logo_hickokChildren’s Hospital, New Orleans, La., is the latest recipient of Helicopter WAAS LPV procedures – developed by Hickok & Associates, Inc.

For the past four years, since FAA approved the company’s WAAS LPV criteria, Hickok & Associate’s has been the only developer of helicopter WAAS LPV procedures. In addition to developing every approach to date, Hickok & Associates has also developed the test procedures used by manufactures and completion centers for WAAS LPV helicopter certifications, and by FAA for its flight testing for public criteria.

New Dedicated Flights to Better Serve Northeastern Ontario

logo_orngeOrnge will launch a six month trial program between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury to provide airplane service for patients with scheduled hospital treatment.

Using contract resources to deliver a scheduled program in this area will free up Ornge resources to deal with more urgent and emergency work, through more effective use of our helicopter and airplane assets.

Scottish Ambulance Service awards new seven-year contract

logo_bondThe Scottish Ambulance Service has awarded a new seven-year contract to Gama Aviation in partnership with Gloucestershire-based aviation company, Bond Air Services Ltd. The contract valued at £120 million, is to provide both rotary and fixed-wing air ambulance services for the people of Scotland.
